With the recent security breaches at commercial entities, gaming manufacturers and security agencies, consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the risk of conducting online transactions, be they business or leisure activities.

The Swivel Secure authentication platform is a single product that can meet all your authentication requirements. It can deliver a constant user experience for a range of applications, be they VPN based, Web based or application based.

Swivel can be deployed as a software only installation, as a physical appliance or as a Virtual Machine Appliance, depending on your requirements and existing infrastructure.

The Swivel authentication platform can also be deployed in a range of High Availability configurations to provide both site and server resilience of your authentication service.

Swivel has a full range of user interface options, including mobile and image based authentication models, all included in the license. Interface options can be assigned to different users based on corporate security and access policies.

With no tokens to manage, Swivel allows for instant provisioning (and deprovisioning) of end-users. By removing the cost of individual tokens and the associated administration and management overheads, the overall budget requirements for implementation is reduced as are the ongoing management costs.

With flexibility built into its architecture for easy implementation, Swivel is designed to accommodate the unique requirements of each individual organisation.

  • Users can be added and removed by managing the existing user repository or repositories (eg Active Directory). Provisioning becomes part of the existing account creation process
  • User-defined PIN composition and PIN change policies can be set
  • Self-care options include PIN change and PIN reset
  • Comprehensive logging options
  • Can be deployed as software only or on a single or multiple Appliances
  • Scalable application

The Swivel authentication platform provides tokenless authentication and can be used with or without its patented one-time-code extraction protocol, PINsafe in conjunction with standard username / password combinations. If you opt to use the PINsafe protocol, the user is provided with a Personal Identification Number (PIN), the OTC is derived from by conbining the PIN with a 10 digit  security string: Security Strings can be sent via SMS, mobile app, telephone or web interface.

In the above example the PIN of 1370 is combined with the security string to create the one-time-code 5250.. PINs can be from 4 digits to 10 digits long. Security strings can be letters, numbers or a mixture of both.

The security string can be delivered in numerous ways – the most popular and easiest from a user perspective is as an obfuscated (TURing) image on the login page.

A typical TURing image is shown below:

If it is not possible to incorporate the TURing image in the log on page, the user can retrieve their TURing via the Swivel taskbar client, which can reside on their desktop.
